Why use coffee filter papers?
Brewing coffee through filter paper as opposed to a permanent washable filter has many advantages.

  • It is the most convenient method of coffee preparation. At the end of the brewing cycle, the operator simply disposes of the filter paper with the coffee grounds inside and the machine is ready for another brew. There is no messy washing up and no chance that coffee grounds will block the drains. An added benefit is that both the coffee grounds and the filter paper are fully compostable.
  • It provides the highest quality coffee brew. A fresh filter is used each time ensuring a consistent taste free from washing chemical taint or contamination from a previous batch of coffee.
  • It is the most ecologically sound method of coffee brewing. Filter papers are made from fast growing softwood trees, a sustainable resource. By contrast, permanent filters are made from metal or plastic. Permanent filters also require regular cleaning using chemicals that are released into the environment.

Where does your paper come from?

We manufacture our own paper at our wholly owned paper mill in Switzerland. The paper is made to the highest Swiss environmental standards and the whole mill operates to the ISO9000 quality standard. The pulp used to manufacture the paper is a softwood pulp mainly sourced from North America and Europe.

Is your paper recycled?
Under European food contact regulations we are not permitted to use third party recycled paper in the manufacture of food contact papers such as coffee filter. However, because we own and operate the paper mill that produces our coffee filter paper, any off-cuts produced when manufacturing the coffee filter are sent back to the mill for repulping. This significantly reduces our carbon footprint and the need to use virgin material.
